Teen Wheel Throwing

Does your Teen have an interest in learning to work with clay? Join us in our clay studios where we have been teaching wheel throwing and hand building for 80 years. Our guided demonstrations and projects are designed to build a strong technical foundation for such a versatile craft. Students will learn how to center clay, shape a vessel, trim, glaze, sculpt and build. They will make functional and non functional objects as they develop an independent portfolio of work. This class is open to all skill levels and may be taken again and again.

Beginner Mixed Throwing

Learn the basics of throwing or increase your skill--this 8 week course is the bedrock of our pottery community. Instructors will demostrate different forms and help students through the process of creating work, firing and glazing. Additionally, we work with students to learn and improve handbuilding skills. We are a rare student-centered studio that focuses on cone 9-10 firings.

This course takes place in our bright, sunny pottery studio, which has been loved for decades by our community. This class comes with ample open studio time where you can work on improving your skills at your own pace. These hours will be announced via email prior to the start of your class.

One bag of clay is provided in the cost of the course.

Advanced Independent Study in Clay

In order to register for this course you should feel confident in the processes of ceramic creation.

This course is predominately student lead with instructor guidance. Each session has a theme/poem/concept to engage students. Students are encouraged to stretch their skills within the confines of our studio offerings. Often students take this course many times and then leave to create their own independent studio.

This course takes place in our bright, sunny pottery studio, which has been loved for decades by our community. This class comes with ample open studio time where you can work on improving your skills at your own pace. These hours will be announced via email prior to the start of your class.

Kid's Wheel & Handbuilding

Ages: 9 - 13

Is your child interested in learning to sculpt and make amazing things in clay? Join us in our historic Clay and Bunkhouse studios where we have been teaching the joy and art of ceramics for over 70 years. Our students learn the foundations of wheel throwing as well as in hand-building. Through fun imaginative projects that are designed to foster creativity and problem-solving, students will learn how to center, cone, trim, slab build, glaze and prepare pieces for final firings. Our instructors are knowledgeable and cultivate a lively, light hearted, and positive classroom atmosphere.

If you have never touched clay, please check out our "Beginner Handbuilding" course in order to get an understanding of this medium. This course will continue exploration in the extruder, slab roller and the processes of our studio.

This course takes place in our bright, sunny pottery studio, which has been loved for decades by our community. This class comes with ample open studio time where you can work on improving your skills at your own pace. These hours will be announced via email prior to the start of your class.

Children's Handbuilding

Calendar Oct 1, 2026 at 3 pm, runs for 6 weeks

Ages: 5 - 8

Do you have a child that enjoys getting their hands dirty? Imagine your child getting to play with clay while learning the foundation of hand-building. In this mixed level afterschool courses, students 5-8 years old, learn about making slabs, hand coiling, pinching, texturing, and glazing. Each session begins with a project that children then customize into a unique, whimsical and colorful memory to bring home at the end of the season. Students will have the opportunity to make a variety of projects such as mugs, animals, ugly jugs, flower planters, syrup pitchers, gnome homes and more.
