Have you ever seen an old camera that looked like it was part accordion? Have you ever wondered what old-timey photographers are doing under their shroud? Have you heard the terms “large format photography,” “view cameras,” or “sheet film” and wanted to know more? This is the class for you!Over 4 weeks we will learn the basics of using the view camera, composing shots, developing sheet film and even enlarging 4x5 inch negatives. Large format photographs have been made for over 150 years, it is the oldest form of photography as an art form, and is still done today by professionals and enthusiasts all over the world.A variety of large format cameras will be provided by the Craft School, as well as film and paper, but students are also free to bring their own equipment.
