Children's Handbuilding
with Diana Haghighat
Ages: 5 - 8
Do you have a child that enjoys getting their hands dirty? Imagine your child getting to play with clay while learning the foundation of hand-building. In this mixed level afterschool courses, students 5-8 years old, learn about making slabs, hand coiling, pinching, texturing, and glazing. Each session begins with a project that children then customize into a unique, whimsical and colorful memory to bring home at the end of the season. Students will have the opportunity to make a variety of projects such as mugs, animals, ugly jugs, flower planters, syrup pitchers, gnome homes and more.

Children's Woodworking
with Shelby Statton
Ages: 5 - 8
Do you have a child that likes to create objects out of wood? This course, designed for our youngest members (5-8 year olds), will allow children to create their very own handmade wooden project over the course of a 6 week period.We teach how to make a different project each season so students often sign up for this course again and again throughout the year.

Design and create wild, fun recycled fashion.

Beginner Mixed Throwing
with Claire Graybuck
Learn the basics of throwing or increase your skill--this 8 week course is the bedrock of our pottery community. Instructors will demostrate different forms and help students through the process of creating work, firing and glazing. Additionally, we work with students to learn and improve handbuilding skills. We are a rare student-centered studio that focuses on cone 9-10 firings.
This course takes place in our bright, sunny pottery studio, which has been loved for decades by our community. This class comes with ample open studio time where you can work on improving your skills at your own pace. These hours will be announced via email prior to the start of your class.
One bag of clay is provided in the cost of the course.

Cutting Board: Forest to Furniture
with Mike Scully
Create a one of a kind cutting board in this day long workshop and learn about wood selection, milling and building in the process.
This course is being offered in honor and memory of Marshall Webb. Marshall, along with his siblings founded the non-profit, Shelburne Farms and also served as the woodlands manager for many years. Marshall spent his lifetime on the land and embodied the vision of the farm as a true working landscape for learning.
Beginner Handbuilding
with Willow Stein
Learn the basics of creating beautiful ceramics without the use of the wheel. This course will explore the extruder, slab roller and the processes of our studio.
This course takes place in our bright, sunny pottery studio, which has been loved for decades by our community. This class comes with ample open studio time where you can work on improving your skills at your own pace. These hours will be announced via email prior to the start of your class.

Intermediate/Advanced
with Sarah Wilson
In order to be elligible for this course a student must have taken a Beginner/Mixed Level Course at least once (or something comparable at another studio).
This course will allow you to build on your skills as a potter in form, size and glaze.
This course takes place in our bright, sunny pottery studio, which has been loved for decades by our community. This class comes with ample open studio time where you can work on improving your skills at your own pace. These hours will be announced via email prior to the start of your class.

Darning~ Visible Mends, Keep the Clothes You Love
with Marie Lallier
Many of us have a beloved clothing item with a hole or a stain that we can’t bear to throw away and don’t know how to mend. Many of us also don’t want to create more waste and add to overflowing landfills. In the past, wearing mended clothing was not acceptable but with the right skills mended clothes can be beautiful. This class is for anyone who wants to learn the basics so they can mend their own knitted items like socks, gloves, hats, sweaters, and more. Learn to repair a hole or snag in a knit item by darning, a simple woven type of mending. Learn how to inspect and assess a knit (or woven) item that needs repair.Learn how to select a needle, select yarn/thread, and tie a knot.
Learn running stitch, the backbone of mending! (If time and interest, backstitch (sesame seed) or blanket stitch).
Learn how to start, weave and finish a basic darn square with one or two colors using a mushroom or embroidery hoop.Practice or start darning an item that is ready for some attention!
Students can bring an item they would like to learn how to mend by darning.
